Day 1

Arriving in Bali and Heading to the Airbnb

This was our first day in Bali… our first time ever in Bali… actually our first time in Asia. So we were very excited to be there. It was a lengthy flight (6hrs) but we got the row to ourselves, got some weird egg, ham breakfast and free wine, so life was good! Anyway, the airport was interesting, it was a tad overwhelming. Everyone was shouting and trying to get u to take their cab or buy something form them. I had one guy shout hey white girl at me, just hoping I would abandon the driver who was very clearly guiding us back to his cab. Well.. we got out of the airport which was very relieving and headed of to our airbnb! The traffic was ridiculous in the main city of Denspar, I’m truly astonished by the lack of accidents. The people on scooters would be swerving in and out of traffic like total hooligans. It was pretty crazy especially seeing a family on one scooter with children sitting on the handlebars. I was only greatly concerned for their safety on that scooter. Even better though for what I saw people transporting on their tiny scooters was a chicken on some guys lap!
Once we made it to the airbnb and paid the cab driver which was an experience in itself. We were able to settle into our amazingly adorable little bungalow! It was the greatest little place. We also got to meet the owners pets, who were so cute! There was a dog and 3 cats… the dog would wrestle the cats and piss them off which was so entertaining. But each of the animals were super sweet and cuddly!
Next came dinner… so, apparently walking is not a thing in Bali. Nor were restaurants, at least not within the vicinity of where we were. So, we used GoJek, a super handy mobile ride sharing app that our host recommended. We could order up food on there and we were starving to say the least….. 1hr later… 2 Cesar salads, spaghetti, fries and ramen arrived. Twas an exciting moment of the lowest quality of food delivery. Bon Appetit! And it was off to bed to watch a movie and crash for the night!

Cant forget about the Pet videos…

The pets were so adorable and a blast to watch. They got really feisty with each other. But on the plus side, I’m slightly less of a cat hater now

Day 2

Bali Chocolate Factory

The Chocolate Factory was our first stop in Bali. We called a driver on the GoJek app, which is really popular in Bali. He was the nicest guy, and to our surprise he wanted to stay whit us for the whole day, drive us to each spot and wait for us while we toured around. This really surprised us, but it seems to be the way it works in Bali. Well for those who aren’t comfortable enough to rise a scooter, which I doubt any american would be. The driver ended up being the greatest things. He would literally drive us wherever we wanted all day and we only ended up paying him 30 USD a day! This was very exciting to us and made things so much easier. This stop was absolutely incredible, it was so peaceful and beautiful. I think this might have been the stop I enjoyed the most the first day! I loved how friendly the locals were that were there. The man we were chatting with on the boat was so nice, I took a picture of his family and just after doing that he insisted on us taking a picture with his children. I was all for it because why not…? I was so happy when all the families sitting beneath the swing shouted and laughed seeing me swing so high! The chocolate was absolutely delicious, along with the latte. I love this place and would recommend it to anyone that travels to Bali!

Temple of Pura Lempuyang Luhur

This temple was so beautiful, its one of the most pictured spots in Bali, and I see why… It was really interesting to follow the traditional rules of the temple. Which the obnoxious insta models did not follow during their hour long photo shoot (ya that wasn’t annoying 😉 On the way up we got a water bottle, which was apparently ion infused, which I didn’t realize. It was so surprisingly sweat, it threw me off. Then on the walk back I bought a weird bread thing which looked like garlic bread. I was overwhelmed by the unusual options and asked the owner what she would recommend and ended with the bread thing. I was very sweat, keeping with the theme. I think it was like a banana coconut dessert bread. It was an exciting adventure, and the temple was absolutely astonishing.

Taman Tirtagangga

This location was truly beautiful! It was really entertaining how before walking in there was a guy offering to let you hold his giant bat. I did not volunteer… The grounds were so beautiful and very large, it was really cool to walk all around the place. The best part though was at the end when we were taking photos on the stepping stones and emelie dropped he sunglasses into the water. It was absolutely historical because she nearly jumped into the water leaning in to retrieve them. She behaved as if her newborn child had fell into the water. It was fantastic. Overall though, it was a beautiful place and well worth the stop!

That Night…

To my surprise there were very few opportunities to eat in Bali. So our best option with what we knew we could eat was KFC. So we asked our driver to stop, the most exciting part of the night. No I’m just kidding but it was exciting. Then with our KFC we got back to the hotel and did some night swimming! After letting our food settle for 30 minutes, of course…

Day 3

Bali Swing

Ubud Me Sari Luwak Coffee Agrotourism

Tibumana Waterfall

Tegalalang Rice Terrace

The rice terraces were really beautiful! I will say we didn’t explore this too much exploring because we were exhausted from all the stairs the past few days. Our legs were burning so we chose to not stair step to the very bottom of the terraces, we just observed form the top!

Pertenin Body Care Spa

Our Spa day after our very long day in Ubud. It was a much needed massage. However I will say the price matched the quality. It was pretty amusing because their electricity went out so it was a tad warm in our massage room. They also started clipping our nails on the massage bed while the “facial” was sitting. Nevertheless it was a very entertaining experience.
